THE SAVINGS NOTEBOOK

About the current 1Password offers.

Compare 2 deals for 1Password. 2 offers are for new customers.

Choose accounts for people, not devices

Start by counting the people who need their own password vault. Individual is intended for one person, while Families includes five accounts and shared vaults. One person using a laptop and phone does not need a family subscription just because they have multiple devices. Choose Families when separate logins and controlled sharing will be useful.

Compare the annual bill with the introductory headline

The personal pricing page distinguishes monthly billing from annual billing and limits its introductory promotion to new customers subscribing directly. Write down the full annual charge and the price after the introductory period. An App Store or Google Play subscription follows a different purchase route, so compare it separately before moving your billing.

Use the trial to check your daily routine

Try importing a few logins, using autofill in your main browser, and sharing an item before committing. The published refund policy for self-managed subscriptions does not refund past charges or unused time after cancellation. Canceling during the trial avoids a charge; canceling a paid subscription leaves access active until the billing period ends.

How we check offers →

Shopping at 1Password: common questions.

Does a Families account make every password visible to everyone?

No. Family members can keep personal items in private vaults and deliberately put shared items into shared vaults. Decide what belongs in each before inviting the rest of your household.

Can I use the website introductory offer through Apple or Google?

The current personal promotion requires a new subscription purchased directly through 1Password.com. Its terms exclude Apple, Google Play, and other third-party app stores, so the same price should not be assumed there.

What if I need to change from Individual to Families later?

1Password provides account-type changes through its website billing settings. Review the plan and billing adjustment shown there before switching; a plan change should not be assumed to qualify as a new-customer purchase.

Will canceling give me a refund for unused months?

For a self-managed paid subscription, 1Password says it does not refund past charges or remaining time. Access continues to the end of the paid billing period before the account becomes frozen.

Should I buy a separate account if my family already uses 1Password?

Ask the family organizer for an invitation first. Joining the existing family account may be the appropriate route; buying an unrelated Individual subscription can create a second bill that you did not intend.
